How Much I've Spent on Books in 2017

In 2017 I read a total of 35 books, but I actually bought 52 books. I always try to buy used books to save money and the only book I've ever pre-ordered was "12 Rules for Life" by Jordan Peterson. By buying used books, I figured I'd save a ton of money and the amount I spent on books would be quite small.

A 'few' of my books.

A 'few' of my books.

To test this hypothesis, I decided to review all of my book purchases to find out exactly how much I've spent on books in 2017. Here is the cost of each book I've bought last year:

Total Cost: $414.61

Interesting Figures:

More books!

More books!

If you're interested in learning about my favorite books of 2017, you can find that here.

Keep in mind that the cost listed is just the total cost of the books and does not include shipping. In total, I think it’s safe to say that I’ve spent ~$500 or so on books in 2017.

As you can see the cost of books adds up, throw in the cost of maintaining a website and it comes out to several hundreds dollars a year. However, I truly enjoy reading and writing and want to continue sharing awesome lessons and knowledge with everyone. Thus, I ask viewers to consider donating to help keep this site up and running, every dollar counts!

If I’m able to turn this into a full-time career, I’d be able to read a lot more books and share many more important lessons learned from books. I also promise to keep the site ad-free and strive to provide interesting and educational content.

If you’re not able to donate but still want to support the cause, sign up for our newsletter here and follow AlexandBooks on social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram).

Thanks everyone and continue to read books and be awesome! -Alex
